MICHAEL DAVID GERKING 
Mike was born on September 6, 1984, in Fresno, CA and passed away on
Wednesday, February 22, 2006, at the age of 21. Mike graduated from
Buchanan High School in 2003, and attended Fresno City College. He
achieved local, state, and national recognition in drama, debate, and
improv competitions. At the St. Paul Newman Center Mike deeply impacted
many young lives as a teacher, friend, and retreat leader. Mike loved
life, music, guitar, photography, film, and most of all, his friends.
Mike, a truly gentle soul with an unsurpassed sense of humor, accepted
all those who crossed his path with his kind and generous spirit. Mike
is survived by his mother and stepfather, Debbie and John Dooley; his
father and stepmother, Ray and Lisa Gerking; his brother and
sister-in-law, Matt and Lisa Gerking; his grandparents, Gene and Wanda
Raineri, and Joy Gerking; four step siblings, numerous aunts and
uncles, cousins, and countless, cherished friends. A Mass celebrating
Mike's life will be held at St. Paul Newman Center, 1572 E. Barstow
Ave., on Thursday, March 2, 2006, 1:00 p.m. In memory of Mike's
stewardship, remembrances may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 2219 San
